The cultivation of medicinal plants in Staffort has a very long tradition at the Dr. Willmar Schwabe company. Having been founded in the heart of Leipzig, the company expanded in 1926 by moving to Leipzig-Paunsdorf on the outskirts of the city. By the end of the Second World War, an extensive area of land for cultivating and harvesting medicinal plants had been established on the company grounds. These plants were cultivated on site, since the starting materials needed for homeopathic remedies largely consist of fresh plants or parts thereof. Another advantage of cultivating our own plants is that we always have starting materials of consistently good quality, and always know what condition the plants are in and when they are best harvested.
